Craigslist silliness related to excavating the bathroom

So I already know from past experience that if you post ANYTHING under the "Free" section in Craigslist all the nutso crazyfolk will come popping out of the woodwork. Several months ago, I was cleaning out the attic and I dumped everything in a giant plastic bin, posted it on Craigslist, and then left the bin of stuff outside my door with a giant "PLEASE DONT TAKE MY BIN :(" sign. And YOU KNOW WHAT?? 30 minutes later, MY BIN WAS GONE! >:O But THEN, the person called and was like "Oops I didn't see your "PLEASE DONT TAKE MY BIN :(" sign and brought it back. Yay! But THEN, it disappeared AGAIN and NEVER reappeared. So sad :(

So this time around, when giving away my crazy bathroom stuff, I dumped everything in a giant CARDBOARD box. And my inbox got flooded with silly emails (33, to be exact). Here are some highlights.

Now, I want you to keep in mind that the majority of this stuff is OLD & VINTAGE! (see David's post for proof of that).  As in, more intended for amusement purposes than ACTUAL USE.

Response 1:

"Oh-my gosh-I sooo want/need it. All that stuff would come in handy for me (3 boys 1 baby girl) if you still have this stuff please give me a call to let me know when I can pick it up."

See I didn't even respond to that...don't wanna get sued for someone using this crazy shit on a baby girl!!

Response 2:

"Hi, interested in the free box of unopened stuff you have. would you be willing to delvier? I can use it."

.....NO.

Response 3:

I would like to give these to my sister who is going off to college. Its her freshman year and we spent so much on books and school supplies. Every thing is gtrealty appreciated. Please leave your address, phone # and a good time to come by tomorrow if possible( Sunday) if not leave a good time during week to come by."

Um...I really don't think your sister would want 90s Bodyform pads and such.  Just saying...

Response 4:

"Want ur free stuff

I'd love to come pickup all your free stuffs but i need to know how to get to bayside from the Bronx. Please, what train goes to your area?"

Trust me, all my free stuffs is not worth the 2 hour public transit ride!

But some people's responses were awesome (and indicated proper use of items in box):

Awesome Response 1:

"Dude/dudette!

This item TOTALLY belongs in the Smithsonian!

- shampoo (esp. dandruff shampoo. AND a couple bottles of HARDCORE tear-free kids shampoo in a hysterical pink pig in a suit-shaped bottle!)

I so wish I lived in Queens, I'd take this entire box off your hands ... thanks for posting this, you brought back FOND memories."

Awesome Response 2:

Just had to tell you that MY mom's bathroom looks the same, and we even have similar vintage products!!!  I thought I was the only one.......I have NAIL POLISH from 1974.  I really do. "

:D
