Honeymoon Day 5: SANTORINI

We flew to Santorini after a few days in Athens to stay at Imerovigli.  Santorini relies heavily on tourism, so a lot of restaurants and places already started to shut down since we were traveling at the tail end of the tourist season.  It was nice though, because it made things less crowded, and the weather was still pretty nice over all.  This post will basically be of lots of pretty scenery shots, because we took it easy & just wandered around all day.

Here's the view from our "hotel room":

The room was in the "cave" style of architecture characteristic on Santorini.  The ceilings were thick and curved, which made the room dim & cave-like - pretty cool!

It also had an extra closet-sized bathroom...definitely the smallest I've ever seen:

The walk from Imerovigli to Thira was a hilly winding path along the caldera, which was completely beautiful the whole way:

We ate in Thira at a place called Naoussa.  David had sea food pasta & I had plaka, which was a baked fish in tomato sauce:

There's a long winding road down the cliff to the beach at a bottom. It's a touristy thing to do to ride a donkey down to the bottom or walk it down:

But it looked REALLY long and covered in donkey poop, so we opted for the cable car instead:

Here's the view up the cliff from the bottom:

We wandered around Thira for a bit and headed home.  I liked this shot of us:

Only in Santorini:

We walked back, and the sun was out in FULL FORCE:

And even though I'm sure land value is astronomical along the caldera, there were still interesting ruin-ish abandoned places like this:

The sunset was very beautiful as well:

Pretty relaxing day :)
