WOW WE MADE IT TO ONE YEAR!!! (belated)

David & I started "talking" or whatever (not to mention roadtripping & music-listening partying etc.) before this date, but "officially" we started dating December 8, 2008.  How did we become an Official Couple, you ask?  Here's how.  We were walking in a park near Brooklyn Bridge one night, and then David goes "So what are we?"  And then I gave him a hard time, and still tease him mercilessly about that to this day. :D  And that made us a couple apparently.

So for our first anniversary, we GOT DRESSED UP! :O (and took awkward pseudo-affectionate pictures):

So, this is a joint blog entry (which is why it has taken so long... Serena wrote that first part probably a month ago) and I would like to give my part of that story.

Serena conveniently left out her ACTUAL reply to my question. She may give me a hard time now, but her reply at the time was "I wasn't going to ask if you weren't" and then basically "I don't know... what do you think?" which of course added to awesome awkwardness of the moment. And then, of course, being the man in the relationship I told her I wouldn't mind her being my girlfriend and she said okay or something to the effect.

And then we lived happily... one year after until it became our anniversary upon which we went out to dinner, the point of this blog post.

We decided we should go to a semi-fancy, expensive restaurant (hence the dressing up and whatnot).

The one we chose was Perilla Restaurant in The Village which is run by Harold Dieterle, the winner of Top Chef during it's first season (Serena is a big Top Chef fan and I agree that it is a pretty good show).

Here is what we had:

Appetizer - Spicy Duck Meatballs (mint cavatelli, water spinach & quail egg)

David's Entree - Grilled Prime Creekstone Hanger Steak (sunchoke creamed spinach, red shallot puree & natural jus)

Serena's Entree - Tasting of Colorado Lamb (grilled rack, crispy braised belly, homemade cheese & parsley sausage)

Dessert - Vanilla Scented Doughnuts (apple butter filling & rum raisin anglaise)

Serena says:

And because no one cares unless there are pretty pictures, here's a pic of Spicy Duck Meatballs stolen from eatdrinkbetter.com:

Super yum all around!!  And can I just say?  The restaurant was awesome.  Some of the most amazing food I've ever had, but still a really chill unpretentious atmosphere.  i.e. you don't feel like you will get arrested if you drop your fork.  Major thumbs up!  And being a fangirl, as David mentioned, I was excited to try Harold's food...because 1. it looked really mouthwatering on t.v., and 2. irrelevantly, because he was such a nice guy.

Annnnnnd yeah.  David also got us a super cool anniversary gift!  A book to help us get through life, called Show Me How: 500 Things You Should Know Instructions for Life From the Everyday to the Exotic.  What fun :)

So in conclusion, I have an awesome boyfriend.  And here is a picture of our feet:

The End. (unless David has something to add)
